Visit to the Strawberry Patch

Reasonably close to where we live there is a strawberry patch where you can pick your own strawberries (Froberg's Fruit and Vegetable Farm in Alvin, Texas). We go every year (usually in March) and it is always such a treat. There is something so pleasant about being out in the fresh air in the spring time. This year was especially fun as both children could really participate and Catherine did that and then some! She was like a little "Strawberry Shortcake" picking and eating the strawberries (we called it "sampling") as fast as she could! : ) The evidence was all over her little face. Jacob, on the other hand also liked picking, however, once the buckets were part way filled was much more partial to dumping the bucket out into another empty bucket or just plain onto the ground! He also was quite excellent at making strawberry smoothies in the field, despite repeated reminders that he was trampling the poor berries! We went with my sweet friend April and her youngest of three, Deacon (as seen in the last picture). Afterward we shopped in their open air market and purchased lots of fresh produce for quite cheap along with some fried pies. Then we had a picnic lunch under an OLD tree and swung on the swing set. The day ended with a great view of a train running along the private track right near where we parked which the kids of course loved.
