Sarah... is a Celebrity!
Fall/Winter 2011-2012 - -
One of Jacob and Catherine's all time favorite people is unequivocally our across-the-street neighbor Sarah. They adore her. Being nine,
almost ten years old she is a particularly good sport about playing with them and will sometimes come to the park with us or have dinner at our house. She also has even helped me get them ready for bed including bath time, pajamas, and reading them stories in their beds. She is a sweetheart. And even though her mom is a wonderful cook she seems to be particularly tempted to join us for dinner if there are fish sticks, mac N cheese, pizza, and/or grilled cheese sandwiches involved. : ) (Pictures include from top to bottom: dining at the new princess table, hanging out with Jacob in the ottoman chair, and frosting pumpkin cupcakes... with sprinkles of course!)

The Sunset I'll Never Forget
February 2012 - -
Tonight as we played on the golf course (a large fallen tree branch had our rapt attention as we pretended it was a dinosaur skeleton) the sun began to set. Noticing the bright pink in the sky I pointed it out to the kids saying "hi God!" Jacob's sweet response was to walk a slight distance away from us, kneel down, close his eyes and fold his hands and pray. He thanked God for the "evening sky..." And he prayed much more elequoently than I am remembering it even just now. Then Catherine proceeded to kneel down as well and re-tell the story of "baby Jesus in the stable" in her sweet little childlike voice also with closed eyes and bowed head. I was spellbound...

"Out of the Mouths of Babes..." (yet again!)

Last month the Bible verse at preschool was: "with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26. We tend to practice over mealtimes, especially breakfast and they are each so proud when they get both the verse and hand motions correct. Afterwards they chorus "from the book of Matthew!" Catherine, however, has unintentionally shortened the verse to: "all things are impossible" and is delighted and proud of her rendition believing it to be correct. I love this sweet story of her.

At Target this week I purchased Jacob a foam axe from the dollar section. He spent the rest of the day unknowingly entertaining me as he repeatedly misspoke axe to something else accidentally: "a**!" He first told me upon brandishing it: "this is an enchanted, magic a**." And then "this is a bad a**." Later when I had tucked the axe in my back pocket at the park he asked me "where his gigantic a** was?!" And so on... Loved it - too cute! : )

Happy Harbour Christmas Pageant
December 2011 - -This year the preschool Christmas program was entitled "The Sweetest Gift." The kids were darling! Every child was asked to wear their holiday pajamas to school that day too so they looked extra sweet.
Catherine's class 
"the Sailors" sang "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and "Jingle Bells." What was so cute about her class and the other two-year old class was that as they trundled out onto the stage their teachers had outfitted them with large silver stars. She looked adorable and I couldn't tell if she was happy or about to cry at first. She loves singing... Very sweet and she sang with gusto and hand motions.Jacob's class "the Penguins" sang "O' Holy Night," "Happy Birthday to Jesus,", "Joy to the World," and lastly "Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow. He is usually less enthusiastic about music and
singing in general than his sister and always has been. He did however provide comic relief several times during the show. Once while quiet between songs as he spotted me in the audience and shouted "Hi Mom" and waved. And another time (also whilst quiet) he told his neighbor/friend next to him: "Evan, you are doing a really good job singing!" in a whisper that was loud enough to be heard throughout most of the gym. : ) Pretty cute. He especially liked the last song "Let it Snow" as the teachers handed out fake snow for them to toss, but the teachers also rained down handfuls of fake snow onto them from above as a surprise too and their reactions to that were pretty amusing.
It 
was a really nice morning to be a mom. : )
Santa Visit at the Mall

Our trip to sit on Santa's lap this year was reasonably uneventful. We actually went on a weekday in very late November to avoid standing in a long, slow-moving line and were successful. Neither one cried this year either (which was a first) although Catherine would not actually sit on Santa's lap, but just stand next to him. The photographer was a bit grumpy (no coffee maybe?) and would not allow me to take pictures of them with Santa Claus, however, I do have a few from waiting in line. Also,
because Catherine 
has been so very particular about her clothing for 
the last six months I opted not to purchase an 
expensive Christmas dress (that 
she would likely refuse to wear), but instead purchased coordinating pajamas for the two of them.
